Elton John performs on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015 on December 31, 2014 in New York City.

The 70-year-old, one of the world's best-selling recording artists over a 50-year career, told a news conference in NY that his priorities have changed after becoming a parent to two sons with his husband, Canadian film-maker David Furnish. We had children and it changed our lives.

"It's going to be a wonderful way to thank everyone. I will miss you so much".

"I will want to stop touring - not playing, but touring".

Sir Elton - who started his touring career in 1970 and has also held a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas - subsequently admitted that he could have "easily died" if he didn't go under the knife.

"It's time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life", he said, adding: "I need to dedicate more time to raising my children".

'It's going to be the most produced, fantastic show I've ever done, ' said the singer. 'I'm not stopping music, ' he said.

The Rocket Man explained that the terrifying episode occurred after he went on tour with James Taylor in South America. "I just don't want to tour so much".

The musicians is retiring from tours but not calling it quits on Music as he will continue to sing, write and make records.

In 1999, he was fitted with a pacemaker when doctors found an irregular heartbeat, while in 2013 the star cancelled a headline slot at London's Hyde Park after being diagnosed with appendicitis.

"[Alessandro's designs are] humorous and fun and beautifully made", John said of the friendship, which was forged after Michele mined the popstar's archives for inspiration for his spring/summer 2018 collection.

"It took me seven weeks to get back to normal after that".
