Las Vegas Bowl 2017 score: Updates on Oregon

18 December 2017

Bowl season is finally here, and it only took Boise State a single drive to break out the trick plays against OR in the Las Vegas Bowl. Below you can find live updates and score information for the game.

The upset victory meant Boise State finished the season with an 11-3 record and accomplished its two goals from the beginning of the year in winning the Mountain West Conference championship and a bowl game.

The Boise State Broncos wowed viewers on Saturday during the Las Vegas Bowl against Oregon. The Boise defense dropped Herbert on the Sam Boyd Stadium turf four times.

The 2017 Las Vegas Bowl will be televised by ABC.

Boise State out-gained OR 481-285, won the time of possession battle by more than 13 minutes and had 28 first downs in the game compared to 14 for the Ducks. The over/under is 59.5 points.

Instead, the Ducks spent the final weekend before recruiting's new signing period playing in the Las Vegas Bowl, where their oft-sloppy, sometimes stunning start to the Mario Cristobal era was broadcast to a nationwide audience.

Georgia States fledgling football program took a bow, celebrating a 27-17 victory over Western Kentucky — the first postseason win in school history.

Cedrick Wilson is, by far, Rypien's favorite target. Broncos cornerback Avery Williams averaged 12 yards per punt return to lead the Mountain West, scoring two touchdowns. AJ Richardson is second with 494 receiving yards.

As the lead tightened, Boise State grew rattled, expecting a replay of their September loss to Washington State, in which the Broncos held a 21-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. He scored Boise State's second touchdown when Rypien found him on a drag route for a 26-yard score.

On defense, Leighton Vander Esche is first with 129 total tackles while also making 5.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 3 interceptions. The Aggies had claimed titles in 1990 and 1999 in addition to their 2015 victory over Alcorn State in the first Celebration Bowl.

The Ducks couldn't get anything going on offense, as evidenced by quarterback Justin Herbert's stat line of 233 passing yards, two touchdowns and two picks.

Mason Fine passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns for North Texas (9-5) but was intercepted twice and fumbled twice. OR averaged 52.1 points in the seven games Herbert started this season, but only scored a total of 75 points in five games when the sophomore was out with a broken collarbone. Tyler King added a 90-yard rushing touchdown.

Though no Ducks receiver has more than 400 yards, five players have at least 245 receiving yards this season.

Oregon: LB Troy Dye has 103 tackles in his sophomore season, 48 more than the next closest Oregon defender, middle linebacker Jimmie Swain.

OR is led by Mario Cristobal, who is the Ducks' new head coach. OR meanwhile is 7-5, and will be coach by Mario Cristobal, who was promoted after Willie Taggart left to become the coach at Florida State.

The Ducks' defensive touchdowns just before halftime masked the Broncos' dominant performance in the half.

OR was forced to burn a timeout before its first play from scrimmage.
