Breath of the Wild Dominates The Game Awards 2017

10 December 2017

The image of Link riding the Master Cycle Zero in the release trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's second DLC expansion pack may have been surprising, but Nintendo teased a bike-riding Link for the newest entry in the franchise earlier this year.

Nintendo received a number of honors at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, winning the awards for Game of the Year for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Best Family Game for Super Mario Odyssey and Best Handheld Game for Metroid: Samus Returns.

But perhaps of more interest to the players is Link's new ride.

Zelda: BotW was released in March 2017 on Nintendo's outgoing Wii U and its launching home and portable hybrid console, the Switch.

As expected, Nintendo released a new update for Breath of the Wild on the Switch to support the new expansion.

In this second of two DLC packs that are part of the game's Expansion Pass, players are granted access to a large new adventure featuring a never before seen dungeon, new insights into the background of the game's four Champions, as well as a motorcycle called Master Cycle Zero, which allows players increased mobility when traversing Hyrule's varied landscapes, once they complete this new adventure.

Breath of the Wild still managed to triumph with its superb design and re-invention of the Zelda series. The Game Awards aren't legally binding, and while recognition is nice, it doesn't matter if "NieR: Automata" or any other game got overlooked in all the commotion surrounding "Breath of the Wild".

Without more, here we leave you with the most important moment of The Game Awards 2017, so that you relive again and again the triumph of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This development also won in the categories for best Director and best action adventure. Now, on top of an already incredible game, we have some story-based DLC that will improve it to be even better.
